Wycombe Homeless Connection
(formerly known as Wycombe Winter Night Shelter)

www.wyhoc.org.uk
WWNS is a registered charity based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The charity was established in 2007 to provide shelter and  support to those who find themselves homeless during the winter months of the  year. Operating between January and March the charity manages seven teams of volunteers at seven different venues for seven nights a week, which collectively  provide the one resource which is Wycombe Winter Night Shelter. Each night of  the shelter guests receive a hot evening meal, a bed for the night and a cooked  breakfast in the morning. As well as providing for the most basic of needs that many of us take for granted there also comes conversation, friendship and the offer of support to begin help solve the problems faced by our guests

Marlow Refeugee Action Group
The purpose of this group is to provide a coordinated Marlow response to the refugee crisis. There are many grass-roots organisations around the country that have sprung up because people want to do something to help. We believe that the same may be true in Marlow and we are here to facilitate that response.

The aims of the Marlow Refugee Action group are to:
  • Collect donations of aid through targeted appeals
  • Fund-raise for specific agencies involved in front-line help
  • Inform the people of Marlow about the crisis and how they can play an active role in helping to alleviate the suffering caused
The group was started in October 2016 by Vanessa Faulkner and Tom Doust, two Marlow residents who had been independently volunteering to help refugees over the previous year.  We liaise with other local charities in the area to be as effective as possible at reaching people in need in Syria, Greece and Calais. Members of the group have volunteered in Greece and Calais and we have a special relationship with the refugee camp on the Greek Island of Samos which we have visited several times and raised several thousand pounds to help the refugees programme there run by Samos Volunteers.

Through our website and facebook page we have already made contact with many other like-minded people who wish to do something to help. Please do join us too!
