About Us
Our Deanery Verse
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV) |
What we believe
Jesus is the foundation, the inspiration, and as our logo suggests, central to all that we are and do. As we seek to work in step with Him, we know that anything worthwhile or effective comes about not because of us, but because of Jesus' love for us and the faith we put in Him.
We believe that our calling as a deanery is to 'spur one another on toward love and good deeds', and by serving, empowering, and enabling all 35 churches in the deanery to flourish in their own unique way, together we glorify God.
'Meeting together' and 'encouraging one another' is at the heart of what we do and how, with God's help, we are able to sustain, nurture and grow the healthy and fruitful relationships and sense of unity which we are thankful to have among our churches, their minsters and lay people.
This is expressed in a variety of ways, especially through the regular Standing Committee and Mission and Pastoral Committee team meetings, the wider Deanery Synod and Deanery Chapter meetings, our regular church visits and inspections, as well as the many events, gatherings and prayer meetings we hold throughout the year.
We are wholeheartedly committed to every church, school, and person in our deanery, without exception. We may not always get things right, but we promise to listen to you, pray for you and support you in the most helpful and appropriate ways that we can.
So, as we look forward to the challenges and the joys which lie ahead, let us together 'hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful'.
